Meet Eric Lee, Founder

Aging in Place Home Solutions began with a personal mission—Eric wanted to support his parents’ wish to age gracefully and safely in the comfort of their own home without sacrificing their unique style. Too often today aging in place becomes synonymous with rushed renovations and the addition of safety devices that clash with the rest of the home. Eric, recognized for his design and family-oriented approach as a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) and SHSS (Senior Home Safety Specialist) certified professional, set out to create an alternative and change what the words aging in place can mean.

Combining decades of experience in the construction industry with his own experience as a stay-at-home dad to four children, Eric brings a unique blend of experience in caregiving and extensive technical expertise that drives what Aging in Place Home Solutions provides to clients.

His compassionate approach, hands-on experience, and construction knowledge ensure every client receives not only unparalleled safety solutions but also the care and respect they deserve.

Based in Westport and serving all of Fairfield County, CT, Aging in Place Home Solutions CT specializes in providing personalized home evaluations, accessibility improvements, and modern design updates for aging adults.

FAQ

  • Aging in place means having the ability to remain in your own home—safely, comfortably, and independently—for as long as possible. It’s about creating a living environment that adapts to your needs as you grow older, so you can maintain your lifestyle, dignity, and connections to family and community—without having to move to an assisted living facility or nursing home.

  • Universal design is an approach towards designing spaces that are accessible and functional for all ages and abilities, blending practicality and safety with beautiful, modern aesthetics.

  • Not at all. Universal design benefits people of all ages and abilities by making spaces more versatile, convenient, and future-proof. It’s about creating homes that adapt to your lifestyle over time.

  • Key areas include: entrances, kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways. These spaces can be enhanced with features like zero-step entries, wider doorways, lever-style door handles, and accessible fixtures to ensure comfort and usability for everyone.

  • Absolutely! Universal design does not need to compromise on style. Modern design approaches ensure that functionality is seamlessly integrated with the home’s aesthetics. For instance, roll-in showers or pull-out shelves can align beautifully with contemporary or traditional decor.

  • Yes, universal design can work in homes of all sizes! By prioritizing efficiency and multifunctionality, even small spaces can benefit from wider doorways, more accessible storage, and open layouts that improve the home’s flow and ease of use.

  • Homes designed with universal principles often have higher market appeal because they cater to a wide range of personal needs. These features demonstrate forward-thinking design and can attract more potential buyers, especially those looking for long-term functionality.

  • Not necessarily. While some features may require more upfront investment, they’re often cost-effective in the long run by reducing the need for retrofits over the years. Many elements, like lever handles or brighter lighting, are affordable and easy to integrate during renovations or new projects.

  • We begin with a virtual consultation to get a better sense of your space and your needs. Afterwards, you can share photos of key areas of your home, which we can use to craft a comprehensive recommendation plan guided by a family-first commitment to your safety and comfort, all without an in-home meeting.

  • The cost of aging in place varies based on your home’s current condition and your specific needs. Some homes need only minor modifications like hand rails or better lighting, while others may invest in larger projects such as bathroom remodels, ramps, elevators or stair lifts.

While there is an upfront investment, aging in place can save significant money—and stress—over time. Assisted living facilities in Connecticut often cost $6,000–$15,000 per month. A well-planned home modification project is usually a one-time expense (often a fraction of moving into assisted living) and allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home for years to come.

Beyond the financial savings, aging in place means avoiding the emotional toll of leaving a familiar home and community, while maintaining independence and quality of life.
